Positional Release Technique (PRT), which helps to reduce painful trigger point, correct abnormal neuromuscular tension patterns, improve mobility, and improve pain management, is called the Pain Relieving Technique. The PRT technique uses specific joint positioning to relieve trigger points and inhibit excessive tone. The evidence suggests that PRT can reduce pain, increase range of motion, and improve strength and function.
PRT can be applied to a variety clinical situations where there is restricted mobility or pain from abnormal muscle tension. For clients suffering from neuromuscular or orthopedic dysfunction, these techniques can be used throughout the life span.
