Milton H. Erickson, MD, American psychiatrist who specialized on medical hypnosis, family therapy, and mental health. He was the founding president of American Society for Clinical Hypnosis. He is known for his creative approach to the unconscious mind and for providing solutions.-generating.
Dr. Erickson He suffered from severe physical handicaps throughout his entire life. He contracted polio at age 17 and was paralysed for nearly his entire life. While recovering in bed, almost entirely lame and unable to speak, he became strongly aware of the significance of nonverbal communication – body language, tone of voice, and the way that these nonverbal expressions often directly contradicted the verbal ones. He also began to have “body memories” of the muscular activity of his own body. Concentrating on these memories helped him slowly regain control of his body until he was able to use his arms and talk again. His doctor advised him to exercise his upper body so Milton Erickson You have been planned. 1To build up strength for college, he took a canoe trip of 2,000 miles. Although he did not fully use his legs by the end of the adventure, he was able walk with a cane.
Ericksonian hypnosis is different from traditional hypnosis in many ways. Although traditional hypnosis is a process where the therapist gives standardized instructions to patients, Ericksonian therapy emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and purposeful engagement with the subject’s inner resources. Dr. Erickson Hypnotherapy was revolutionized by the incorporation of many new concepts and communication patterns into the field.

Dr. Erickson The Ericksonian perspective has effected a profound shift in modern psychotherapy. Many aspects of Ericksonian psychotherapy that were once considered extreme have been incorporated into mainstream practice.
