How I stretch has changed
Focused Flexibility has changed how I stretch.
In the past, I did dynamic stretches or static/PNF stretching separately. In my static/PNF stretching, the pattern of dynamic stretching followed closely by PNF is what I use now. I find the dynamic movements make the PNF less uncomfortable so it’s easier to spend more time stretching. Because the movements are stronger than my current limits, I think it helps reduce injury. flexibility.
It is hard to quantify the strength gain, but I can now kick (taekwon do), much better. I practice the pancake stretch as described in this program almost every day.

How I stretch has changed
I didn’t really understand how to stretch before or how to breathe while stretching. Grouping of specific areas also helped a lot because I didn’t understand that before either! The videos are also short and direct which is great as stretching can be boring enough without needing to hear a lot or fast-forward to the relevant parts. The format was great.

Have you tried a complete pancake stretch?
I have incorporated Jarlo’s flexibility I incorporate these techniques into my martial arts stretching, and while teaching tonight, I got stomach and chest to floor on the pancake stretch.
15 years of stretching in the same way as I had always done it had not gotten me far. My back used to be so arched that I tried to touch the floor with my forehead. It has been a huge improvement to shift the emphasis from my hips to pivoting, keeping my back straight, and projecting my chest towards floor.
I now need to add a few inches to my front and side splits before I can finally do full splits. I always used to think that if you didn’t do the splits when you were young and then maintained it you would never be able to get there as an adult.
My success is largely down to doing things the right way.
In the last few months, I thought I had reached my limit. flexibility Given my age (37) I had basically had the same stretch for 10+ years. It was changing my focus on how I stretched that made the biggest difference.
