True “hands-off” Travel
My assistant coordinates every aspect of my trips. My assistant knows all about my preferences, including my favorite airlines and even my favorite seat numbers. She’s learned how to maximize frequent-Flyer points help me to earn more points than I would by myself.
She checks me in to fly and Send me reminders when I need maps and details I need to know — the weather, how I’ll get from place A to B — and It all is in my calendar and app. All I need to do is pack and Enjoy the trip.
She adjusts my travel plans around it. When I arrive at my hotel, she’s already had healthy food delivered to the front desk. It’s waiting for me.
My personal shopper
I do not have to go on errands to buy more supplies or return an item I don’t want. I also do not need to worry about passwords, logins, shipping addresses, and reorders. My assistant takes care of all this.
All I have to do is tell her exactly what I want and She takes care of everything. She also tracks what I like and makes it easy to request more.-word email.
My request for more contact lenses. I don’t need to tell her which contact lenses — she already knows. “TY” It is “thank you.”
It is as simple to cancel something.
Never forget another gift
My assistant reminds of upcoming birthdays and anniversaries. and There are other occasions I may want to send a gift. She helps me choose, wrap, and package. and All of them.
She keeps track on my gift ideas, so I know exactly what to give to friends when holidays come. and family.
Notice how my assistant gives me options. While I do have the final say in the matter, 99 percent of the time my assistant will recommend one of her suggestions. This allows me to concentrate on other aspects.
My assistant can help you find the right answers
Do tickets still exist for 92Y? What are my options for an Italian dinner for four? What kinds of vests can I purchase to keep cool during my wedding? (This was a real question I asked Jill to research for me, since I knew I’d be sitting outside in the hot sun for my wedding.)
Sometimes it’s pure curiosity. Instead of going down the Google rabbithole, ask a random question. and I don’t want to get distracted so I just send it my assistant.
As if I needed to know how much caffeine my coffee had. It’s a time-consuming task. So I just emailed Jill…
…and I received the answer a few minutes later.
Bottom line: Don’t drink more coffee, dude.

Simply close your eyes and Think back to the past two weeks. What small tasks were you able to complete in the past two weeks? (Really? Close your eyes for 5 seconds. and It’s worth it.
If those tasks just vanished — but they still got done — how much time would you save? How much time would you be able to devote to the things you care about? Think about how you could use that energy to be more productive at work, with your family or just for pure enjoyment. This is how you live a rich life.
It was one of my best decisions to hire an assistant.
But if it’s so obvious, why doesn’t everyone do it?
(In fact, some people actually shouldn’t hire an assistant.)
The answer isn’t what you might expect.
Why aren’t there more people?
Get an assistant
“I am not the type of person you are looking for.”
“Who would be a good assistant?”
If you think I’m going to convince you that you need an assistant, let me stop you right there: Some people genuinely don’t need one. If you live in order and you’re running on all cylinders, you might not need an assistant.
Specifically:
If you wake up each morning and have a calendar detailing what you’ll work on — and you stick with it — you might not need an assistant
If you’re able to balance the short-term life needs (such as responding to emails) and Reorder laundry detergent and Buy gifts for your nephews with the long-term goals of life (planning an annual trip, reaching out to catch up with friends regularly, attending interesting events in your city every month) — you might not need an assistant
If you truly cannot imagine delegating even a small part of your life (even ordering peanut butter) to someone else — you might not be right for an assistant
But if you’re busy, and you realize that you might need help — or that you’ve been spending your time reordering detergent when your time is better spent on excelling at work, or building your business, or even simply spending time with your family — then an assistant could be an excellent investment.
This is what most people would say. “But I don’t know what my assistant would do for me!”
My first assistant was hired when I was working in a startup and IWT side by side. My assistant was part-Start time: About 10 hours per semaine and the biggest challenge I faced was that I didn’t think I was the kind of person who would ever hire an assistant!
Yes, this man hired his first assistant.
It’s funny, I still remember the first two times I mentioned it with my friends (we all were in our 20s at the time). “Ooh, an assistant, so fancy!” They teased. It was also a subtle acknowledgment that I was doing something different from the norm and It could be pretentious.
I wasn’t a diva. I wasn’t some world-Famous CEO. I was just a guy with too many things to do and I needed your help.
It was hard to change that part of my identity. When I was growing up, I remember my parents raising 4 children with no help or nanny. As a single young man, who was I to hire help?
But it took less than a week for me to see how much time I’d save.
Yes, it was difficult at first. I didn’t know how to find a good assistant, and when I found one, I wasn’t sure how to work together. Is it possible to communicate on the phone daily? Are we required to meet in person? What if I don’t have work for them to do?
All of this stuff was easy to figure out when I looked back. However, the most important lesson I learned was to concentrate on my strengths. That means getting help for the things I’m not strong at and aren’t worth becoming strong at.
As my time has gotten more valuable, I’ve learned that money can buy you back your time. And I’ve found many new areas for my assistant to help me in. My biggest challenge was recalibrating my identity from someone who had done it before. “all on my own” Actively, and Asking for help proudly
“How would I even use an assistant?”
In the early days, my assistant’s biggest help came from coordinating all those tiny items that end up consuming hours: scheduling meetings, ordering pants and Returning the wrong size, getting things fixed in my apartment and deciding where to eat with a group of four next weekend. Also, sending a book to friend. and On and on.
My assistant now handles more: She is familiar with all of my travel preferences down to my favourite seat and flight. She is familiar with which airlines she frequents.-Flyer program for use on work trips and personal trips. She proactively reminds me of birthdays coming up — with 3 ideas for gifts already selected (I just review and Please say “Yes, this one”).
Most importantly, she’s allowed me to take a “big-picture” View of my life as she manages the details. Example: I live in NYC and You want to enjoy all the excitement and There are many cultural opportunities available. My assistant keeps track on possible events and It helps me to prioritize them in my daily schedule.
“How can I trust someone else to do this?”
It’s one thing to book a dinner reservation. What about sharing your home address and assistant’s?
Oder your bank account information
Oder your social security number
These can become very frightening, and they happen quickly.
The simple answer to this question is “Trust is earned.” and It is important to carefully hand it over to your assistant.
I’ll share an example from my own personal experience. An example of my personal experience is from years ago when I was interviewing for a position as an assistant. She was professional, poised and composed. and I had great experience in the past. However, within two weeks I was able to tell that something wasn’t right.
I would send her emails and not hear back for days — sometimes ever. I began receiving emails from business contacts stating, “Are you getting my emails? Are we meeting on Tuesday?”
I called my assistant and We had a hard conversation. She promised to make it better. I received an email the next day. and quit.
There is no warning. No warning. It’s gone.
The worst part is that I logged in to her email account. and saw hundreds of unread emails she’d never gotten to. No wonder she hadn’t replied to my requests. She hadn’t even read them.
Imagine the terror I felt inside my stomach. I never want to feel that again — which is why I created a series of “greenlight benchmarks” Your assistant must demonstrate their skills by doing certain tasks and trust.
Download it immediately Ramit Sethi – Delegate and Done
My assistant should respond within one business hour to all my emails. They should respond to my emails within one business hour. and Basic email. You can go on.
So if you’re wondering how to find someone you trust, don’t worry. You’ll always be in control.
If you decide you don’t want to share your social security number, you don’t have to. You can have your assistant complete the documents for you. and Even a pre-order can be sent to you-Stamped envelope. Simply add your social security number. and Drop it off by mail.
If you don’t feel comfortable having your assistant email certain people, that’s fine, too. (One friend told me that my assistant hates to coordinate with me so I coordinate with him directly.
You decide.
You don’t have to hope or wish that you find an assistant you can trust. Follow these steps. and you’ll know exactly when you’re ready to give them more and More responsibility
“I need to get my ducks in a row before I can hire an assistant”
OK, I know I’m not the only one who’s said this:
“I’ll have to spend way too much time explaining what to do. It’s easier just to do it myself.”
I’m honest, this was something I thought while I was working alongside my first assistant.
But I did know that there were people who had done it. If they could do it, there must be a way to do it — and It’s possible to do it too.
These are the things that I have learned.
I had to change the way I communicated. It takes only 10 minutes to do it right.-Specific in my requirements (and Even if it was done in a specific way, it would still pay off in hundreds of hours. There’s an art to knowing how to communicate the right way. Or better yet, just use the templates I’ve developed. (I’ll let you know more about them below.
Guess who it is? “get those ducks in a row”? Surprise! It’s your assistant’s job! Make sure you have a list of all your accounts, that’s now their job. If you need to make a “standard operating procedure” for some task, that’s now their job. They can speak out loud or they can write it down. and presto — it’s edited and All ready to be used.
There are still things that I enjoy. To learn about new restaurants, I still enjoy reading food blogs. I don’t delegate that — I love it. However, if I have to make a reservation, my assistant will take care of it.
You may think that you have to organize everything before you hire an assistant. But if that were true, why haven’t you already done it?
More importantly, it’s time to change your frame of mind: You don’t have to do this. All you have to do is cause it to happen. Now, it’s your assistant’s job.
