ABSOLUTE PITCH and RELATIVE PITCH
Some universities teach students today that absolute pitch is not something that can be learned. You either have it or you don’t. Personallly, I believe this is false. I have this skill since my teens.
What is absolute pitch, also known as perfect pitch? It’s the ability to identify a chord or musical note and hear it.

This brings me to relative pitch. What does that mean? It is simply the ability to perceive and hear the relationship between notes. Also known as a musical interval. An example of an interval is a perfect fifth.

A scientific study was done to find out why some people have absolute pitch, and not others. I just read the article. You know what they said at end of article? I didn’t know the sound of C when I was born. Music was something that I didn’t know. No newborn baby does either. Like language, it is a learned skill. This skill was learned by me at the age of 16; it is a strong evidence that there is no particular gene.

When I was 16, my journey to mastering absolute and relative pitch started. I was learning guitar at the time, and really wanted to improve my musical skills.
