An anthropologist in biological sciences Helen Fisher discusses the three brain systems that were created for reproduction and mating: the sex drive, feelings of intense romantic love, and feelings of deep attachment to A long-term partner. Next, she discusses her brain scanning (using fMRI) regarding romantic rejection and the trajectory for love addiction after rejection. She ends her talk by discussing the brain circuits involved in long term addiction.-term partnership happiness and the future of relationships in the digital age—what she calls “slow love.”

Helen E. Fisher, PhD, A biological anthropologist, she is also a Research Professor at Rutgers University’s Department of Anthropology. She has published five books about the evolution and future human sexuality, polygamy, adultery, divorce, gender differences within the brain, chemistry of romantic affection, and most recently, human personality type and why we fall in and out of love with certain people.
