Ms. Ackerman will speak about love at a time of She has been living with illness for many years and has written about it in her latest book One Hundred Names. Love. One day, Ackerman’s 74-Year-An old husband, gifted author and professor, was struck by a severe stroke. When he regained awareness he was afflicted with “global aphasia”—total loss of language—and could utter only a single syllable: “mem.” The standard therapies yielded only frustration.
