Salvador Minuchin, MD, developed Structural Family TherapyThis is a method that addresses problems within families by charting relationships between family members or between subsets. The Philadelphia Child Guidance Clinic was his directorial role. He was the first to staff the Clinic, which was only a small facility at the time. However, the Clinic has grown to be one the most well-respected and modelled child guidance facilities in the country. Minuchin founded his own family therapy centre in New York in 1981. Minuchin retired in 1996 and the center was renamed to the Minuchin Center. Dr. Minuchin is the author many notable books, many of which are classics. Mastering is his most recent book. Family Therapy: Journeys to Growth and Transformation According to a 2007 survey, Minuchin was named one of the top ten most influential practitioners of the past quarter by 2,600 practitioners.-century.
