Carl Rogers, Ph.D, American psychologist, who was influential and one of the founders (or clients) of the humanistic approach to psychology.-Psychology is a human-centered approach. Rogers is widely regarded as one of the founder fathers of psychotherapy research. He was awarded the Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions (APA) in 1956 for his pioneering research. Carl His Ph.D. was awarded in 1931 by Teachers College, Columbia University. Rogers served as the president of the American Psychological Association and the American Association for Applied Psychology. He was also the American Academy of Psychotherapists. He has received eight honorary doctorates as well as the Humanist of the Year Award of the American Humanist Association. The American Psychological Association offered him two awards: the Distinguished Scientific Contribution award for research in teh field of psychotherapy, and the first Distinguished Professional Contribution Award. Rogers was also awarded the Award of Professional Achievements by the American Board of Professional Psychology. Rogers is also the coauthor.-Author of 12 books and many articles in psychological, educational, and psychiatric journals dating back to 1930.
