She has written seven books that have been considered classics in the field. Strategic Family Therapy; Behind The One-Way Mirror, Sex, Love and Violence; The Violence of Men, The Secret Meaning of Money; The Therapist As Humanist, Social Activist, and Systemsic Thinker; and The Relationship Breakthrough She has presented her research at numerous professional conferences worldwide and has been a keynote speaker for The Evolution of Psychotherapy conference, American Association of Marriage and other events. Paul Watzlawick, In 1949, he received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Venice. He has an Analyst's Diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute for Analytic Psychology, Zurich. Watzlawick is a psychotherapist who has been in practice for more than thirty years. He was the principal investigator and research associate for the Mental Research Institute. He was the Stanford University Medical Center’s Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Watzlawick is a noted family therapist; he is recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Family Therapy Association. He is also the author.-Author or editor of eight books about interactional psychotherapy, human communications and constructivist philosophy.
He created five Axioms. They are:
- It is impossible not to communicate. Communication is a part of every behavior.-verbal communication.
- Every communication contains a content. In addition, there is 'metainformation', which says how the communicator wants to be understood.
- Every partner involved in a communication procedure interprets their behaviour during communication.
- Human communication can take place in both non-verbal and verbal forms.-verbal communication. A nonverbal communication is possible in addition to the spoken words.-Part of the communication is the spoken part (getures, behavior, intonation.
- Communication between people can be either symmetrical or complementary. This is determined by whether communication is based in differences or parity.
