The use of the term is a major source of controversy “tantra.” There’s seemingly endless debate about what tantra really is and who’s teaching the “real thing.” It’s often said that there’s an overemphasis on the sexual aspect of tantra in the West, and in some ways that’s true: tantra is about much more than sexuality. However, many forms of tantra involve what my Tibetan teachers call “the Tibetan way”. “bringing desire into the path.” This is the transformation of craving into an abiding feeling of joy. Tantra can be an effective way to transform your sexuality into something more beautiful, more fulfilling. It may involve the transformation or transmutation of sexual energy into a source for freedom and not suffering. Even though not all material in this course can be considered tantric, the goal is to raise consciousness and improve your sexuality and your life experience.
