Eric Gentry, Ph.D., LMHC, He is an internationally recognized leader in disaster and clinical traumatology. He has trained thousands of paraprofessionals and professionals worldwide in the treatment and prevention of traumatic stress. He earned his doctorate at Florida State University. There he studied with Charles Figley who was one of the pioneers in traumatic stress. Dr. Gentry He was one the first faculty members of Traumatology Institute. Later, he became co-Director of the International Traumatology Institute, University of Southern Florida. Dr. GentryAlong with Dr. Anna Baranowsky are the co-Coauthor-owner of the Traumatology Institute Training Curriculum – 17 courses in field and clinical traumatology leading to seven separate certifications.
Dr. Gentry As a member of several CISM team clinical members, he has assisted in numerous disaster and critical incidents, including in Oklahoma City, New York City, as well as hurricanes in Florida. He is the founder of the Community Crisis Support Team in Tampa, Florida. It has been a model for other communities to incorporate mental health services into their disaster recovery network.
Dr. Gentry The co-Critically acclaimed author Trauma practice: Tools for Recovery and Stabilization (Third Edition) (Hogrefe Publishing, 2014). His other books include Forward-Focing Trauma Therapy (Compassion Unlimited, 2016) and the coauthored Trauma, PTSD Grief & Loss: The Ten Core Competencies for Evidence-Base Treatment (PESI, 2017). Additionally, Dr. Gentry This maturing field of study has seen many publications, including book chapters and research articles.
Dr. Gentry He has a private consulting and clinical practice, and adjunct faculty at several universities. He draws equally from his scientific study and from his rich history of 30+ years of clinical experience with trauma survivors to balance this training with current, empirically grounded information and experienced-compassion-based intervention skills.
