Dr. Westby Is a friend of the American-Speech-Language-The Hearing Association (ASHA) is Board Certified in Child Language and Literacy Disorders and has been awarded the Geneva College awards the Distinguished Alumni Award the University of Iowa’s Department of Speech Pathology and Audiology, the ASHA Award for Contributions to Multicultural Affairs the ASHA Honors, and the Kleffner Award for Lifetime Clinical Career Achievement
Dr. Westby Published and presented national and international on topics including autobiographical memory, theory and mind, play, and language-literacy relationships, narrative/expository development and facilitation, adverse childhood experiences, screen time, trauma, metacognition/executive function, and assessment and intervention with culturally/linguistically diverse populations. She has worked as a consultant with the New Mexico Preschool for the Deaf uses a play-based curriculum.
Dr. Westby Flinders University, as a visiting professor in South Australia, where she was involved in a language/literacy curriculum. Brigham Young University, where she was a consultant on SEEL, an engaging and systematic emergent literacy program that uses playful practice. Bilingual Multicultural Services is her consulting firm. in Albuquerque is located in New Mexico and has an affiliated appointment in Communication Disorders at Brigham Young University in Provo, UT.
