James F. Masterson (1951, Jefferson Medical School) He was the Director of the Masterson Group (P.C.), which specializes on the treatment of adult and adolescent personality disorders. He was also the Director of The Masterson Institute (formerly Character Disorder Foundation); an attending psychiatrist at New York Hospital and Payne Whitney Clinic; as well as Adjunct Clinical Professor in Psychiatry at Cornell University Medical College. Masterson is the author of seven books and two volumes on psychoanalytic approaches for adolescents and character disorder. According to a 2007 survey, Minuchin was named one of the ten most influential practitioners of the past quarter by 2,600 practitioners.-century.

Paul Watzlawick, He received his Ph.D. in 1949 from the University of Venice. He has an Analyst's Diploma from the C.G. Jung Institute for Analytic Psychology, Zurich. Watzlawick has been practicing psychotherapy for over 30 years. He was the principal investigator and research associate for the Mental Research Institute. He was Clinical Professor at Stanford University Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. Watzlawick is a noted family therapist; he is recipient of the Distinguished Achievement Award from the American Family Therapy Association. He is also an author and coauthor.-Author or editor of eight books about interactional psychotherapy, human communications and constructivist philosophy.
He created five Axioms. They are:
- It is impossible not to communicate. Each behavior is an example of nonverbal communication.-verbal communication.
- Every communication has content. In addition, there is 'metainformation', which says how the communicator wants to be understood.
- Every partner involved in a communication procedure interprets their behaviour during communication.
- Communication between humans can be verbal or nonverbal.-verbal communication. Nonverbal communication is available in addition to spoken words.-The spoken part (gestures or behavior, intonation..) is part of the communication.
- Communication between people can be either symmetrical or complementary. This is determined by whether the communication is based in differences or parity.
