Ericksonian hypnosis is different from traditional hypnosis in many ways. Hypnosis is traditionally thought of as an act of the therapist giving standardized instructions. to Ericksonian Hypnosis is not a passive approach. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship with the subject and the purposeful engagement with the inner resources and experience of the subject. Erickson revolutionized hypnotherapy through the introduction of many new concepts and communication patterns into the field.
Erickson’s hypnotic outlook was the inspiration for many of his innovative psychotherapeutic methods he used in treating individuals, couples, families, and children.
