Description:
This workshop lasts three hours and is intended to provide an overview of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and is designed for mental health professionals who would like to be familiarized with the treatment, or are interested in further training in DBT. DBT is a combination of behavior therapy (behavior change) and validation-based principles (validation). These strategies will be presented alongside dialectical strategies which offer the ability to accept and change. The DBT framework will be discussed and the modes and functions that make up comprehensive DBT will also be described. Lecture and videotapes of treatment will be used to teach the principles and techniques of DBT.
Educational Objectives
- Describe the problems DBT was created to solve.
- DBT treatment targets and the structure of treatment for high-risk multi-problem clients with multiple problems, including the modes and operations of comprehensive DBT programs, are explained.
- You can use basic strategies from DBT such as problem-solving, validation, and dialectical strategies.
