Since almost forty years Virginia Satir has been a practitioner and teacher of psychotherapy. One of the Co-founder of family therapy, she is also a co-founder.-She authored four books, and five. A number of books are also available about her approach. She has been awarded the Distinguished Family Therapy Award the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy.
Satir is the co-The founder the Mental Research Institute. She was the past president of the Association of Humanistic Psychology, and has received a number of honorary doctorates. Her master's degree was granted in 1948 from the University of Chicago School of Social Service Administration
