Advanced techniques are not covered in the workshop. It is not intended to be an instructional course for beginners. It’s an in-An in-depth look at how the body functions, its movements, balances and generates power. This instruction is for serious boxers, MMA fighters and martial artists.
1st hour – BALANCE & FOOTWORK
Learn the secrets to balance and footwork used by the world’s best dancers. We’ll be doing the same drills I learned while training under my brother (FYI: did you know Muhammad Ali trained in ballet?)
First you’ll learn how to train and activate your ‘balancing’ muscles for better footwork. Then I’ll show you some advanced footwork tricks. You’ll find there is more to grounding yourself than simply bending your knees and lowering your center-Of-gravity!
Secrets to BALANCE & FOOTWORK:
- How to move like a classically trained dancer while standing solid.
- How to avoid being pushed back and block punches
- How to move around the ring while not getting tired
- How to be a cat-like mover, powerful and slick (yes, it is possible to do this!

In addition to the principles you’ve learned for fighting footwork, you will learn how to ground yourself for incredibly solid punches. First, we’ll break down the body mechanics behind the jab, cross, hook, and uppercut. Then, we’ll learn how to generate maximum rotational power (HINT: it’s not as simple as moving every part of your body).

It was amazing! The workshop was amazing! I learned so much about advanced footwork, punching harder and conserving energy. My favorite technique was the one that allowed me to breathe more efficiently and conserve energy. It was really helpful and I can already see the difference in my shadow boxing. Thank you again for Saturday’s workshop. It was amazing! Great workshop. I highly recommend it to all levels of boxers. It was interactive and hands-on.-on experience, where a lesson/concept was explained/demonstated followed by a short drill where participants could practice executing the techniques. Johnny would take time to focus on each person and give personalized advice based on what he saw in each person’s technique.
I loved the balance and footwork portion of the workshop. These ideas and concepts gave me a new perspective on how to improve my movement. Johnny’s demonstrations of moving the head, hips, then legs was an excellent example of how and where our movement really comes from. My favorite part of moving/punching was the core.
Your workshop was a complete success. The workshop gave me a new perspective on how to perform basic techniques more efficiently. I was able to come away with a lot of new concepts and information….
