“J” “S” They are a married couple in their 40s. In their two years together, health problems have undermined S’s functioning, increasing pressure on J. to be the breadwinner and caregiver. This session asks the couple to notice their interactions. S speaks glowingly about their future, and she pulls away. He feels crushed and withdraws. Both feel unhappy and alone. They are asked to examine their emotional and physical reactions to one another without blaming. When They can remain connected to their bodies by focusing on their own experiences. The emotional walls fall down and they feel closer to each others.

Janina Fisher, Ph.D., She is a licensed psychologist and a former instructor at The Trauma Bessel van der Kolk established Center as a research and treatment facility. Dr. Fisher Since 1980, he has been treating couples, individuals and families.
She was the former president of the New England Society for the Treatment of Inflammatory Diseases Trauma and Dissociation, an EMDR International Credit Provider, Assistant Education Director of the Sensorimotor Psychotherapy Institute and a former Harvard Medical School Instructor. Dr. Fisher He lectures nationally and internationally on topics related the integration of neurobiological research into traditional therapeutic modalities.
She is also co-Pat Ogden and author Sensorimotor Psychotherapy – Interventions for Attachment Trauma (2015), author The Healing of Fragmented Selfs Trauma Survivors Overcoming Their Internal Self-Alienation (2017), and the forthcoming book. The Neurobiological Legacy of Trauma (in press).
