Jarrod Kimber – Fans with Laptops The Sports Writing Course
This course teaches you how to write about sports.
I did not finish high school and never took any higher learning. I also never worked for a newspaper. I did not have any contacts. I also did my ed without ever knowing anyone who was involved in the sport that I was writing about or having a single friend who was a reporter. Like the Unabomber I continued to write, writing, writing, and writing. I wrote my way into a weird job – global writer – at one of the world’s biggest sports websites, ESPNcricinfo.
I wrote like no one else because I didn’t know there were ways you were supposed to write about sports. I wrote about things that I cared about because I didn’t understand about news cycles. I wrote. with Because I didn’t know better, I put a little bit of myself in every article. This all means that I have built a career on writing about sport that isn’t like the careers of others.
This is my reverse-Engineering my writing.
The Part theory, part practice. You will be able to use my tips and checklists, as well as the lectures for over two hours. with You are who you are.
I have tried to make it as practical as possible, so that if you find yourself in a press box the next day or writing a feature from your living room, you could take what you’re learning and apply it.
This is not a course on how to get into the industry; most of those are a bit scammy and I don’t want you to think you can take my course and suddenly become the Times chief sports writer. This course will help you discover who you are as a sports fan and how to use that to your advantage to become a professional sports writer.
The These areas are covered:
What you are as an author
How to think about athletes, teams
What types of articles are you allowed to write?
How to find sports stories
The Tools for modern sports writing
Interviewing: A Guide
Guide for long-term planning-Formulation writing
Writing and data

It doesn’t matter to me if you went to Oxbridge, now work at the Guardian covering Premier League, or are an uneducated 57-year-This course is perfect for any old plumber who wants to share her opinions on Handball trends. Anyone who is interested in writing better about sport will find this course useful.
Though I am primarily a Cricket writer, the skills I have acquired can be applied in other sports, in fact, most likely outside of cricket. I have been honored with a prestigious award and presented a Guardian masterclass. I also wrote for major publications all over the globe. with Patches on my elbow discussing how sports writing was great when people smoked cigarettes and worked with One finger on the typewriter
I am a writer who is constantly learning, trying to improve, and using my mistakes as a way to help you.
Sports writing, with It has never been more exciting to see the rise of internet TV. Each and every one of us should be able to write as well as we can. I dropped out of high school and tried two higher learning courses. One course I failed and the other one I completed. At 26 years old, I quit my job at Qantas to become a film director.
So I was 27 years old and already parked cars for a living. Also, I did some film work in Melbourne. Oh, and I also started a cricket blog in that same year. with balls.
I’m now 37 years old, have published four books and my documentary can be viewed worldwide on netflix. I also had my own radio station in the UK, a podcast. with The Bugle’s Andy Zaltzman: I’ve been a cricket commentator for ABC, BBC and talkSPORT. My actual skills are very limited. I am able to write and speak, and have used them to build a career.
