Three Positions Guard Retention In Jiu Jitsu
This series will concentrate on three key positions that we must defend in order to keep the guard. Combining all three positions will give you a better understanding of the heuristic system. Danaher Athletes use the highest levels of competition. These are the positions:
Seated GuardLearn how to move out of a seated place when in danger. Use hip escapes and wedges to create space, then return to your comfortable guard.
Supine GuardObserve the details when you lay down. This will help you to see what could make it difficult for your guard to pass. For example, how to weave your legs so that they don’t get caught, or the best way to position your arms and legs back.
Turtle Position: Good guard retention should include turtle position. Learn when you need to get to the turtle and what to do once you’re there. Also, learn how to integrate this information into your game to ensure seamless guarding.
Combining all three positions correctly can help you unlock your full potential as a player and defender. Work the smart way, not the hard way, and anyone of any skill level can learn the proper approach from one of the world’s best coaches.
