Mary Nord Cook, MD, She is a child and adolescent psychiatrist who has been board certified. Since 1998, she has been directly providing and developing three psychosocial skills for parents and training them in multidisciplinary parenting.-Weekly family workshops
Dr. Cook Two books on the evidence were published by him.-based, standardized, skills-Building treatment protocols for the school-Populations of aged and adolescent patients, titled Transformation Behavior: Training Parents and Children Together Transformation Teen BehaviorParent Teen Protocols for psychosocial skills training. Her passions include developing and applying strengths and family values.-A focus on evidence-based methods, with the goal of minimizing medication and optimizing parenting and psychosocial skills. Her motto is “More Skills =’s Less Pills!” Dr. Cook Numerous awards have been given to her for her exceptional and innovative leadership, program development, teaching, mentoring and leadership. She often gives presentations to the community about school, primary care, and youth outreach programs.
In July 2015 she was promoted to chief executive officer, and became the medical director at EMPOWER. This first-of-its-kind, non-profit organization.-Profit {501(3)(c)} Center of Excellence in Family Behavioral Health. She has extensive experience in the training of psychiatry residents and medical students. She was recently awarded a residency nominated award in teaching excellence. Additionally, she has been honored by the American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry for being an outstanding mentor. She specializes in working with families presenting with youth who’ve been diagnosed with disruptive behavior and mood disorders. Dr. Cook She received her doctorate (Medicine) at Wayne State University. She also completed her General Psychiatry residency at the Naval Medical Center in San Diego. Additionally, she completed her Child & Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship training at University of California, San Diego. From 1998-2005 she was a child psychiatrist at six military bases in the United States and 30 Department of Defense schools. From 2005-2015 she was an associate professor of psychiatry in the Colorado School of Medicine and concurrently served as the medical director of the Department of Psychiatry of CHCO.
