Stanislav Grof, MD – Psyche & Cosmos
For deeper self-development, use archetypal astrology’s wisdom to help you tap into your inner wisdom-Learn to understand and fill your life with more beauty, meaning, and purpose.
You can open your mind to the sacred, hidden forces in your own soul and increase your sense of belonging in a loving, ensouled universe.
Astrology has a special place in our culture. It’s one of the oldest integrated systems of knowledge in the world — with 5,000+ years of history — and has been championed by some of history’s greatest scholars and philosophers from Ancient Egypt to the Roman Empire to the Renaissance and beyond.
Astrology is still largely rejected by intellectuals and scientists as a gateway for magical thinking. It lacks any predictive value.
Astrology is a fantasy if it doesn’t exist, so why does it persist for millennia.
And if it’s grounded in predictable planetary patterns, why does science not connect the dots between the cause and its effects?
Rick Tarnas says that Harvard is a Harvard.-Former philosopher and trained philosopher “skeptic,” Archetypal astrology examines the connections between planetary patterns within the solar system and archetypal pattern in the human experience. It has remarkable predictive power for the essence of every period in history.
Stan Grof was the founder of transpersonal psychological research and one of our foremost thinkers. He shared his findings with Stan Grof who saw that each person is an individual expression the archetypal energies saturating the collective at that time.
Your individual psyche is connected to the cosmos by archetypal Astrology.…
It not only provides predictive information about your life, it gives you a better understanding of the character of the era we’re living in…. and enables you to reconcile the two.
You will see challenges in your life as part of a larger picture when you start to look at them through this lens. “ensouled universe” — a depth of intelligent, sacred presence that permeates all that is. You are no longer victimized or disoriented. Instead, you feel empowered to overcome these challenges with consciousness and confidence.
In other words, archetypal Astrology allows us to see a sacred, synchronistic universe as opposed to the cold, soulless void so much of science considers the ultimate truth.
Over the course of Rick Stan’s 30 years of collaboration, the evidence of archetypal astrology’s role in understanding the depths of one’s personal psyche and The collective psyche was so convincing that these two pioneers had to share their story, despite intellectual ridicule and professional risks.
This is the first time that it has been done. Stan and Rick distill their thoughts-expanding explorations into a cohesive, online course — highlighted by video sessions — in which you’ll expand your understanding of yourself and the nature of the cosmos.
Astrological Underpinnings
Join Stan and Rick for the 8-Part Psyche & Cosmos program, you’ll have a unique opportunity to explore this new paradigm and its implications.
You’ll discover how archetypal astrology is founded on the principle that planets have a fundamental, cosmically based influence on human existence.
Each planet corresponds to an archetypal dimension of consciousness — a deep pattern that “tilts” Reality moving in a specific direction.
Saturn, for example, is responsible for structure and connotes responsibility. However Saturn can also be used to indicate a form or constriction. Mars is associated with masculine energy movement and the urge toward aggression, forceful activity and war.
Rick studied patterns of upheaval and found that they were consistent with the Uranus Movement. This governs breakthroughs as well as periods of rapid change. The last time that we saw the Pluto Transit, which began in 2007 and will be ended in 2020, was in 1960 to 1972. This period also featured radical change, destructive energies and abuses of power.
On a collective basis, The archetypal astrology shows why certain periods are markedly marked by crisis, while others are marked by great breakthroughs — and how the times we live in correlate with specific individual psychological qualities in a person’s natal chart.
The legendary Carl Jung told a friend that he had come to use astrology with every patient because there was no other means to provide that level of precision for understanding the archetypal dynamics of a given individual’s experience.
It’s been said that psychology textbooks of the future will look back on modern psychologists working without the aid of astrology as being like medieval astronomers working without the aid of the telescope.
Fate vs. free will
It’s like looking at your birth chart before you sail. It’s valuable information, but how your astrological predispositions and potentialities play out depends on how much consciousness, intelligence, courage and compassion you bring to each moment.
Ultimately, it’s the exercise of your free will that determines how the day — and your life — unfolds.
Stan and Rick will show you how archetypal energies can be expressed in many ways.-Enhancing can be as destructive as it is enhancing. How you think and act will influence how they are expressed.
No, we do not have to be dependent on an unknowable force outside of our control. While each individual’s potential destiny may be written in the stars, astrology is by no means deterministic. Knowing your energies can help you make the most of them and live a life that is positive and fulfilling.-Possible support ways.
Astrology is Archetypally predictive, not concretely predictive. We can forecast the future. “experiential flavor” You can only know what planetary energy is being used, but you cannot predict how the Universal Mind will be expressed in human free will.
The archetypes are a part of our consciousness. We can respond to them with greater autonomy and self-reliance.-awareness.
Astrology’s great merit, which Stan and Rick will help you discover, is that it seems to reveal very precisely which archetypes are especially important for each person, how they interact with each other, and when and how they are most likely to be expressed in the course of each life.

The teachings are not the only thing. Three sessions include Q.&A with one faculty or both
Module 1: Introduction & Course Overview
We’ll present an overview of the course and of our research as we sought to understand the archetypal dynamics of human experience and non-Ordinary states of consciousness. We’ll recount the clinical effort in the 1960s and early 1970s to find a reliable way to predict the nature and outcome of psychedelic sessions, experimenting with a wide range of standard psychological tests. This futile effort with these tests eventually led to a shocking discovery. Both the timing and character of psychedelic state, as well other non-psychedelic, were accurately predicted.-You will find certain planetary alignments that are consistent with your birth chart to correlate with ordinary states of consciousness like spontaneous mystical awakenings, or spiritual emergencies.
In this opening module, you’ll:
- Introduce yourself to a very rigorous form astrological analysis, informed Jungian psychology and its archetypal perspectives, which has emerged as a Rosetta Stone of the human mind
- Listen to the inside story about the origins of research at Esalen Institute, in the 1970s. And how it expanded to encompass more areas of inquiry.
- Consider the incredible support provided by various forms consciousness research to support the worldview underpinning astrology. This includes the interconnected and ensouled Universe, the psychological reality of archetypes and their potency, synchronicity, the significance of birth, the relationship between the individual and collective psyches and the historical unconscious.
- You will be shown a preview of the rest.
Module 2: A New Cartography for the Unconscious
Bridge to Archetypal Astrology
We’ll explore the vastly expanded cartography of the psyche that has emerged from psychedelic therapy and Holotropic Breathwork. It covers the biographical-Recollective level, which mainstream psychiatry views as the whole of the mind. But there are two large transbiographical regions in the unconscious, the pernatal and the transpersonal.
Two features in this cartography proved to be an important link between archetypal and psychology, which was quite unexpected. Emotionally strongly charged (cathected) experiences do not exist in the unconscious as a mosaic of disjointed elements, but form complex dynamic constellations — COEX systems (systems of condensed experience) and Basic Perinatal Matrices (BPMs).
In this module, you’ll:
- Explore holotropic state of consciousness and the extensive cartography of the human psyche that has been created from the research into these states
- Hear about two newly discovered transbiographical regions of the unconscious — the perinatal and transpersonal domains — and important specific features of the new cartography — COEX systems and Basic Perinatal Matrices (BPMs)
- This course examines the dynamics of COEX systems. It also reviews clinical examples and their influence.
- Discover how BPMs and COEXes helped bridge psychology and archetypal Astrology.
- Connect the dots between the anatomical, physiological and archetypal underpinnings of the perinatal matrixes and biology. This will serve as theoretical preparation to explore the perinatal symbolism further in the next module.
- Participate in a Q&Amendment of the session
Module 3: Basic Perinatal Matrices & the Death-Rebirth Process
A visionary journey
It was revealed that holotropic states were essential for the development of the human psyche. This confirms an important principle in archetypalastrology. We’ll use powerful paintings from psychedelic and Holotropic Breathwork sessions to explore the perinatal domain of the unconscious, the existence and importance of which has not yet been recognized by mainstream psychiatry and psychology. We’ll pay special attention to its relevance for archetypal astrology.
We’ll discuss the archetypal symbolism of the Basic Perinatal Matrices (BPMs), experiential patterns associated with the reliving of the four stages of childbirth, and their connections with the anatomy and physiology of birth and with archetypal dynamics. Understanding the phenomenology and rebirth of the perinatal domain is crucial for understanding the psychospiritual process and for any serious approach towards ritual and spiritual history.
In this module, you’ll:
- Learn about the importance of biological birth trauma in psychiatry and psychology, as well as archetypal Astrology.
- Explore the symbolism and phenomenology behind the Basic Perinatal Matrices, and the transpersonal realm by looking at the art of people who have experienced them.
- These realms are vital for ritual and spiritual history, art, and other psychosomatic and emotional disorders.
- Consider how BPMs can be used to provide guidelines for those involved in systematic self-management-Spiritual exploration
- Recognize that trauma of birth, and the archetypal world are both sources of violence against human beings
Module 4: Archetypal Astrology & Cosmology
We’ll set forth a brief overview of the evolution of cosmology and the history of astrology as these have unfolded from prehistoric times to the present. The complex cultural and scientific developments of modern times have led to the gradual disenchantment in the cosmos. They also made it difficult for astrology’s status and plausibility, which helped lead to the birth of depth psychology. Jung, who spent years studying astrology and used it in many of his patients’ work, said: “Since our highest symbols and stars have fallen from heaven, a secret existence in the unconscious holds sway.” This is why psychology exists today and why we refer to the unconscious. All this would be quite superfluous in an age or culture that possessed symbols.”
In this module, you’ll:
- Learn the basics about archetypal Astrological Analysis through discussion of natal charts. planetary alignments. world transits. and personal transits.
- Explore how astrology makes possible an understanding of one’s life — its cycles, its ups and downs, the crises and the breakthroughs, the periods of major change and transformation — through the study of transits. Transits occur when the planets currently in the sky form certain geometrical patterns with respect to the planetary positions at one’s birth. The nature of those patterns — which planets are involved and how they are positioned — appears to correlate in a strikingly consistent way with the archetypal character of the experiences one tends to have at that time
- Discuss two fundamental issues in astrology discussion: the question of causality (or how does astrology work). “work”; The issue of determinism (or fate and freewill) and the nature our co-existence-Creative participation in an archetypal cosmic cosmos
Module 5: The Planetary Archetypes
We will present in this module the ten archetypal principle that astrological research has identified are associated each of the planets.
In this module, you’ll:
- Analyze the nature and evolution of archetypes. From their roots in mythology traditions (gods and goddesses), to Platonic metaphysical, cosmic principles, and Jungian psychological archetypes.
- Study the specific qualities, traits and tendencies for each planet and luminary — beginning with the Sun and Moon, then the inner planets Mercury, Venus and Mars, then Jupiter and Saturn, the furthest away planets known to the ancients and visible to the naked eye, and finally the outer three planetary bodies discovered in the modern era, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto; it is these 10 astronomical bodies for which we have both the greatest amount of research and a very strong consensus among astrologers concerning their meanings
- Interpret examples for each planetary archetype, so that you’ll receive a clear sense of the basic qualities and potentials related to each principle
Module 6: Q&A
This entire module will be devoted to responding to participants’ questions concerning the content of the two preceding modules in which we covered the fundamentals of archetypal astrology and the basic meanings of the planetary principles.
Module 7: Psychedelic Sessions & Archetypal Astrological Analysis
We’ll present an in-depth analysis of a dramatic case history from LSD therapy — the case of Flora, who in 1968 was treated for multiple severe psychopathological and somatic conditions in three powerful LSD sessions. The third session was a powerful and lasting experience that produced remarkable therapeutic results. It can be used as an example to illustrate a few key principles for understanding these sessions.
We’ll then present the archetypal astrological analysis In terms of the birth chArt of the patient, and the particular once-in-a-The lifetime convergence of transits she was going through at that moment in her life. This case history has many dimensions. It provides a useful case study for assessing the value and relevance of archetypal Astrological understanding of psychotherapeutic processes and non-psychotherapeutic processes.-Normal states of consciousness.
Module 8: Q&A
In our final module, we’ll address participants’ questions concerning the case history set forth in the preceding module as well as the overall course content.

The Use of Archetypal Astrology in Psychedelic Therapy & Holotropic Breathwork
Video with Stan Grof & Rick Tarnas
Stan Grof (video interview) and Rick Tarnas (video interview) discuss the amazing value of archetypalastrology in work with non-traditional astrology.-Normal (or holotropic) states are induced by psychedelics or other non-psychedelic substances.-drug means. They share their experiences and observations from the joint research they conducted at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur (California) more than 30 years ago. Stan discovered that archetypal Astrology was what Stan called it, to their surprise. “the Rosetta Stone for consciousness research” After all, the conventional tools of psychology and psychiatry proved to be essentially ineffective for this purpose.
