Varleisha D. Gibbs, PhD, OTD, OTR/L, An occupational therapist and author. with 18 years experience in the workplace with Diagnostics for children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Sensory processing disorders, and Neurological disorders. In 2003, Dr. Gibbs Universal Progressive Therapy, Inc., which provides high quality, inter-disciplinary therapeutic services to families, was established. As the founding president, she was responsible for providing education and treatment services in the areas autism, sensory integration, and family.-Care that is person-centered This venture ignited her passion for Family-friendly-Care that is patient-centered Dr. Gibbs Received her PhD at Seton Hall University with This dissertation examines the disparities in racial health as a result of the Autism Spectrum diagnostic process. Dr. Gibbs She also received her doctorate from Thomas Jefferson University in occupational therapy and her master’s in occupational therapy training at Columbia University. Dr. Gibbs She is currently Vice President for Practice Engagement and Capacity building at the American Occupational Therapy Association. She was the American Occupational Therapy Foundation’s former Scientific Programs Officer. Dr. also served as the inaugural chair and director of the master’s programs in occupational therapy at Wesley College in Dover, DE where she was a tenured associate professor. Prior to joining Wesley she was the director of the doctoral programmes in occupational therapy at the University of the Sciences.
Dr. Gibbs Her dedication and expertise in the fields of neurology and cognition as well as pediatric therapeutic intervention are unwavering. She continues to give training and lecture on sensory processing strategies for self and others.-Regulation for practitioners, parents, educators, and students throughout the country, as well internationally.
