My name is Curtis Stone I’m here to show you how to be a success. Urban Farmer with my step-By-Step Profitable Urban Farming course.
NEVER FARMED NEITHER HAD I
I was once a struggling musician.
My summers were spent as a tree planter, making my living to pay my music. “career” The remaining nine months.
It was not fame, fortune, a lifestyle of luxury, or any meaningful contribution to my community. A crummy van, decent venues, and a few close friends were all that I had. I had plenty of fun, but I certainly wasn’t building a future towards anything meaningful. Problem was, I was not ready to build my own future.
The challenge was, I just didn’t know what to do, to find meaning in my life.
FIND INSPIRATION
Realizing that I had to change my course, I took the summer off in order to find inspiration.
I chose to bike down the west coasts of Canada and the US.
I met amazing people. Amazing things happened to me. And I was the fittest person I’d ever been since high school. I was biking 50 miles a day. It felt great.
I visited many organic farms along the way. I was inspired by all of the farmers who shared my values for a better world, and were actually making a living based on those very values.
San Diego was my first stop. I had already made the decision to get started. Urban Farm in my hometown Kelowna, British Columbia Canada.
AFRAID TO START
It was autumn when I arrived home. Now it was time to start my urban farm.
I knew I wanted to start a farm, but I was overwhelmed by all the tasks.
I didn’t grow a vegetable.
I’ll repeat that…
I didn’t have any experience in growing vegetables. None. And he had never sold anything. We didn’t want to.
Was I overwhelmed?
Yup.
Afraid?
For sure.
Did you fear failing?
You bet.
And worst of all, I just didn’t know where to start.
Failed TO GET STARTED
The fall turned into winter, so I started reading every book, attending workshops, and watching every YouTube video. Urban Farming. I was determined to learn all I could.
When spring came, I bought my first piece land and began working. I kept working.
I invested the $11,000 I saved from my tree planting project, which was approximately $11,000.
I bought seeds, a rototiller and some other tools. Soon, I was growing my own vegetables.
I was so happy to have a tomato that my mother grew in my hand.
Before long, I was selling at the local farmer’s market, to the people in my community, and a few restaurants in town.
It felt great. It was the first time I felt like I had a purpose.
Soon, however, the initial excitement subsided, and the feeling of overwhelm returned.
I worked 80-hour weeks, but there was still much to do.
There just wasn’t enough time in the day to get everything done.
I was smashed to pieces by the heat of summer. Hard. I was burned out. Multiple times, I was so exhausted from overworking that I had to stop work and throw up.
Something has to be done.
What’s the problem? I was driven, but not business-savvy. I worked hard, but I wasn’t smart.
I earned $17.476 at the end of my first season. It was a good start to my first season of doing something I hadn’t done before. But then, I calculated my hourly wage.
$1.45 an hour.
Ouch.
Let’s take a second to consider that.
I had worked every hour of the day during the season, but only $1.45 an hr.
SEEK GUIDANCE
Winter arrived, snow fell, and I was ready to leave.
But I didn’t.
Instead, I resolved that this would be my work.
I knew there had got to be a way.
It was time for me to evaluate how I was doing. Make every effort, every minute, and every step count.
It was time for us to start over, to create a new slate and to learn from our mistakes.
It wasn’t my experience, but the experiences of others who have gone before me.
It was time for me to invest in my business education. I needed teachers to teach me… I needed a mentor.
THE MENTORS
I searched for mentors with relevant experience from which I could learn.
Mentors who lost money and made errors were now successful.
I was able to observe the way successful farmers approached their businesses after meeting them. Particularly, how they spent time.
They did some very strange things. They earned more and worked less.
They taught me to be more mindful of my time than any other thing.
They were my tactics for the next season. Their philosophy helped me change my approach.
It worked.
My second season saw me earn $61,540. It was unbelievable.
In Year Two, I was getting paid well for all my hard work and long hours.
Over the years, I refined my methods so that I can not only make a great income but also work hard.
Many other farmers were interested in my guidance. They wanted to know how others could achieve the same success I had.
I was their mentor and I am so grateful for that.
They had a higher income and lower expenses. They also worked less.
The messages came in.
Aspiring farmers were sharing their stories of success: They spent more time with their families, had better connections with their communities, and were more financially successful than ever before.
Growing vegetables gave me a new passion: mentoring farmers to their success.

5 reasons to be an urban farmer
1. You can make a great income for yourself
Locally produced, high quality food is in great demand. Restaurants will pay top dollars to purchase your produce. This is the best time to start and make a living.
2. It’s a great lifestyle
I’ve never been more excited to get up in the morning and get to work. Every day is unique, you can be your boss and spend your time outside helping the land. Beyond the daily routine, the community that forms around you is something you’ll never understand until it happens to you. It’s such a special thing.
3. You don’t need to own your own land
I turn down offers to farm other people’s land weekly. Once you get started and show people what their yard can look like, you’ll have more land than you know what to do with, and all for the price of a weekly share of veggies. It’s important to get started with your first piece of land, and then show others what you can do.
4. As a leader in your community
Soon your community will look up to you for advice, not just regarding their gardens. Because urban farming seems so unconventional, (it’s not) people will be in awe at what you’ve been able to accomplish and want your help in creating success for themselves.
5. Many other possibilities
Start an urban farm and you will be able to show the world what you believe. People will take notice, and soon you’ll be interviewed on the local news, radio, and blogs. You will be surrounded by other entrepreneurs who want to start businesses. You’ll have no shortage of other opportunities to take on, if you want them.
